HA.. I think Sony would let her take them to court, then when she loses, they would countersue for the court costs. I've seen something like this before. That woman (and I'm being nice here...) needs to let go and realize her son was perfectly capable of making his own choices. It's annoying enough listening to a significant other bitch about you being online everytime you log on, let alone family that you don't even live with. Even more so if you suffer from depression.

I used to suffer from a severe depression myself, and EQ was the best escape I ever came across. Online, I was the leader of a guild, well-liked, and happy. Offline, I felt like nobody liked me, that I wasn't worth anything, and my girlfriend (now my wife, thank goodness for her patience with me) did nothing but nag at me for being online all the time. When things started going sour online, it would affect me offline as well. I ended up getting to a point where I started doing things I now wish I hadn't, both on and offline. Addiction is a pretty powerful thing. But I realized that it all wasn't worth it when I saw how my life was going down the toilet, so I cut back and persued other interests.

What I'm trying to get at here, is that people make their own choices, and have REASONS for doing what they like to do, whether it's depression or not. Hell, if my mother tried to control my life like the way I'm thinking she did with her son, I'd probably stay home and play EQ every waking minute too, just so I wouldn't have to deal with her. When I was nagged at, getting online was the first thing on my mind. For quite a while, I used to play for 11+ hours a day. Basically when I wasn't working or sleeping, I was online. But I ended up getting some help with my depression and anxiety attacks. So do I play like that anymore? No. Not for quite a while I haven't. In fact, I can't hardly stand logging in anymore (except to say hi to friends, but that's a different reason).

As for the other people who aren't suffering from depression and are addicted... as I have said, people have REASONS for doing what they like to do. There's a REASON why people choose to play EQ so much (besides the usual reason "because it's fun"). If it starts to have dire consequences in their lives, then hopefully they'll have enough smarts to realize they need to make a change. The people who get on their soapbox about the "addiction" killing their friends and relatives need to open their eyes and target the real problem whether it be depression or something else. NOT Sony. >:

Here's a good article I found that pretty much sums up the way I feel. www.safm.co.za/links/twoc...ts_17.html

And here's a picture I got a kick out of... :p
