Ok here is the deal. I am one of those insane pack rat types that needs to hang on to everything, I log everything. I read everything I can and just can never get rid of junk. So the last few times I have ever needed to look something up in Lojack's log file for EQ. The damn thing was over 20 megs. So I went to see if it would be easier to get from Yalamyil's log file and his was over 8 megs.
So what im trying to create is this.
A simple batch file that will
1. Copy Lojack's Log file to another directory (so that when eq is run next it starts a new log file for him)
2. When the file is copied to the new directory it needs its name changed slightly so that multiple log files can stack up there for a bit.
Only problem is I don't know how to do the renaming part of all this automatically. I'd like it if the file were renamed with today's date in it, so that I could keep track easier that way. But how do you get a batch file to incorporate wild cards, date stings, and such? or is the answer, you don't... ?
